North Tustin Street Preservation Group | Mission Statement
The North Tustin Street Preservation Group vigorously supports revitalization and redevelopment of The Village at Orange Mall site. This should be done hand in hand with much needed infrastructure improvements to the North Tustin Street Corridor.
Our group and countless concerned residents oppose rezoning proposals that result in a reduction of retail square footage and consequentially a loss of sales tax revenue. Revenue that funds our city. We do not support sweeping zoning changes or plans that rush the building permit process or remove site specific public comment. We oppose rezoning or changes to zoning that could allow high-density dwelling units.
We oppose any sort of multi-use zoning change because of the ill-conceived design concepts that will follow. These types of high-density urban housing projects will bring negative impacts to our community. We also recommend that the zoning not be changed on the former Peralta school site. However, if a zoning change to “Public Institution” is required, said zone should be modified to dis-allow housing altogether.
Redevelop the mall and the surrounding area to its fullest potential as a thriving commercial retail center that generates high tax revenue for our city. Great things can happen there! Let’s make Orange better by working on an outstanding solution together.
